Kevin Colligan was elected mayor in 2015. He served as an alderman for 8 years prior to being elected mayor. Kevin is a lifelong resident of Cankton. He graduated from Sunset High School and attended USL where he studied finance. He is a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church and is also a member of the Knights of Columbus #10745.
Kevin is employed by Associated Grocers of Baton Rouge as a sales consultant for independent grocers in a three state area. He currently serves as a board member for the Louisiana Municipal Association and the Louisiana Rural Water Association.
He is married to his beautiful wife of 25 years, Angela, and has two wonderful sons, Bradford and Jackson. Kevin hopes to keep moving Cankton forward in the coming years as well as protect the integrity of the village.

Malcolm “Scott” Bussey graduated from Jennings High School in 1985. While a Senior in high school, Scott enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and began my tour of duty and served until receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1989.
Scott then began a Law Enforcement career with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Department, Welsh Police Department and the Lafayette Police Department. Scott retired in March 2018 with over 28 years of service wearing a badge.
Scott and his wife, Paulette, have been married for over 25 years and have 5 children and 2 grandchildren.
Scott is a member of Saint John Berchman’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 10745.

Matt Smith is serving his first term as alderman for the Village of Cankton. He currently is the lead Design Engineer at Weatherford in Scott working to develop new products for the oilfield to increase the output of production oil wells across the world. Matt was formerly with ASH Industries developing components for the medical, firearm, consumer goods industries as well as work with entrepreneurs from Shark Tank and Kickstarter on developing new products for mass manufacturing. Matt received his Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
He is a Chief Warrant Officer in the Marine Corps Reserve with over 17 years of exemplary service. He enlisted 2001 and has served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Ukraine and coordinates logistics for multinational exercises in Eastern Europe as required. Matt received his officers’ commission after completing 10 years of active duty on 2011.
Matt and his wife, Angie spend their time raising their 2 kids and a little Yorkie in Cankton. Matt and Angie were married at St John Berchman’s church in 2010 and continue to attend church on Sundays.

Danny L. Uriegas is serving his second consecutive term as an Alderman for the Village of Cankton. A native of Abbeville, Danny and his wife Judy have resided in Cankton the last 12 years and have been married for 20 years. Together Danny and Judy are the proud owners of Double U Farms, with small farms in St. Landry and Lafayette Parish. Supplying Beefmaster and Commercial Breeding Stock to breeders in neighboring states and Mexico. Double U Farms also has a show division with a show team of seven 4-Her’s.
Service to his community has been instilled in Danny’s makeup since youth. While serving our country abroad the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), Danny was summoned home to care for and raise his younger sisters Anna Marie and Patricia. At the age of 19 he became parent/legal guardian to his sisters. While raising and caring for his sisters Danny worked full time and attended USL, thus paving a way for his/their future.
Civic involvement has always been important in his life. He has served as the Grand Knight of Council #2281 Knights of Columbus, a Vice-President of Governmental Affairs for the Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Kiwanis Club, member of St. John Berchman’s Catholic Church, member of the Cankton Men‘s Civic Group, a member of Beefmaster Breeders United, and a Board Member of the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association.
Danny loves the Village of Cankton and considers it St. Landry’s best kept secret.
