J Brent Breaux 50 years of age; son of Jasper and Joyce Breaux; 3rd of 5 Siblings; Married to Allison Richard of CP, 5 Children Morgan 24 Madyson 21 Haidee & Harlee Mire14 (step) and Parker 7.
Brent began a law enforcement career in 1988 as a reserve in Scott PD and moved onto the Lafayette Sheriff’s office in 1989. During that time Brent worked in several different departments including Corrections and Rescue Squad. Brent graduated the 73rd ALETA Police Academy in 1993 and transfered to Scott Police in 1995 with the rank of Patrol Sergeant before his transfer to Carencro Police Department in 1999 as the Assistant Chief of Police. Brent retired from Law Enforcement in 2003after having obtained over 35 certifications during his tenure. A exempalary comendation included The Certificate of Merit by then President Bill Clinton for saving the life of a fellow Officer with the award presented by Congressman Jimmy Hayes.
Brent returned to law enforcement in 2015 when he joined the Cankton Police Department after moving to our community. Brent was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in Cankton and was appointed Chief of Police in 2019.
